Meet the founder
From a Chennai slum to feeding a nation.
Sarathbabu Elumalai grew up in the slums of Madipakkam, Chennai, the son of a single mother who sold idlis on the street to put her five children through school. He earned a place at BITS Pilani, then an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad in 2006 — turning down lucrative corporate offers to start his own catering company instead.
That company, Foodking Catering Services, began with one small kitchen and a promise: hot, hygienic, home-style food at institutional scale. Nearly two decades on, Foodking runs central kitchens across India, employs hundreds, and serves 50,000+ meals a day to India's top campuses and corporates.
